SEIKO Spring Drive starts its second year with two new creations, the Moon
Phase and the GMT
SEIKO Spring Drive was twenty eight years in the making, but in just its
first year on the market, it has created a remarkable impact, recognised by
connoisseurs and consumers alike as one of the most important developments
in watch technology for decades. The "quiet revolution" of Spring Drive is
underway.
For 2006, the international Spring Drive collection has been expanded to
include two new calibers, expressed in three new references, and bringing
the size of the total collection to nine watches. These additions provide a
new vision of the 'circle' design concept that characterises the whole
collection and yet maintain their own individual appeal.
In another graceful expression of the natural and continuous motion of time,
the silver color moon-shaped plate on the blue mother of pearl disc creates
the serene and refined appeal of this elegant new timepiece, marking the
continuous progress of the moon across the night sky.
Not only the dial conveys the magical imagery of the moon. The movement
itself is engraved to complete the harmony of the complete design, with the
bridge and rotor portraying the fan-shaped pattern of moonlight radiating
out from the glide wheel. The true and universal nature of time is thus
represented in every part of the watch.

The 2006 Sportura Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph.
The Challenges of Perfection
All sports present challenges to their participants, but only in Formula One
do these challenges test people and machines to their very limits. To
succeed, every part of the car, every member of the team and every action of
the drivers must be perfect, and all these elements must work in perfect
unison. Speed is nothing without reliability; courage cannot deliver without
precision and power without control is an irrelevance.
The iconic 4 dial layout of the Kinetic Chronograph 9T caliber is retained,
but the construction of the crystal above the dials is new and unique.
Beneath the main domed sapphire crystal, each sub-dial has its own and
entirely separate crystal in a design that was inspired by the headlight
clusters now found on the world's leading sports cars.
The case is carved from high-grade stainless steel with a black ion-plated
ring between the case and glass. The dial surround, like the inset bracelet
links, is made of the same carbon fiber as is used in the Honda F1 racing
chassis, and the motor sport theme is completed by the see-through sapphire
case back which reveals the remarkable Kinetic ÅÆngine¡¦that drives the
7-hand movement.
Each of the 1500 Sportura Kinetic Chronographs for 2006 is presented with an
individual, numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Shinji Hattori,
President and CEO of SEIKO Watch Corporation, and is accompanied by an
authentic and individually numbered part from the 2006 Honda F1 racing car.
The part is a gear ratio, precision-engineered by Honda Racing F1 at its UK
factory and headquarters near the famous Siverstone racing circuit. Each of
these gear ratios has been built for actual 2006 Honda F1 cars. This gear
ratio is offered as a symbol of the shared values of Sportura and Honda
Racing F1 - speed, precision and perfection.

by TimeZone.com
In a market where new products are released at a bewildering and

Seiko Kinetic Perpetual
The star of the new Premier Collection is the Kinetic
Perpetual series. With 232 parts, 16 jewels and the world's smallest
ultra-sonic motor, just 0.4 mm thick, the Kinetic Perpetual calibre sets a
new standard in perpetual calendar watches. It incorporates Kinetic
Auto-Relay technology. No battery change is ever needed, and yet Kinetic
Perpetual offers quartz accuracy and reliability. With Auto-relay, the watch
will, when unworn, go into "sleep" mode for up to four years conserving
energy until, once it is put on again, the hands automatically reset to the
correct time.

Sportura: All Star Chronographs
Seiko has introduced three new models to the Sportura
range. The theme for these new models is speed as a new hot look accelerates
the already cool impact of this flagship all-chronograph collection for lovers
of sport and advanced technology.
These masterpieces of engineering brim with the passion and precision of the
race circuit. First of the starting grid is a Kinetic Chronograph, setting the
pace for the collection’s contemporary European feel with a tonneau case,
black-plated steel and Roman numerals.
The jet-black dials with vivid orange highlights, specially coated
non-reflective sapphire crystal and lumibrite markers make each Sportura watch
easy to read, at speed, day and night. The punched black leather of Sportura’s
first straps adds to the speed appeal.
The collection consists of Kinetic Chronograph, Alarm Chronograph and World
Timer Chronograph.

Donovan clocks 30 years on his Seiko
Legendary Scottish singer/songwriter Donovan recently
contacted Seiko UK to let us know that his Seiko Sports Solar watch which he
purchased in 1973 is continuing to give reliable service after 30 years of use.
He has needed to change the battery only once in 30 years with the sun
supplying the rest of the power needed.
Although Donovan’s watch is no longer available, Seiko continues to make solar
powered watches like the one pictured. Today, Seiko’s solar powered watches do
not require a battery as the watches feature a 180 day power reserve when fully
charged. Seiko also make other eco-friendly watches which harness kinetic
energy to power watches, again requiring no battery.

The watch you should be wearing in 2004
Seiko’s Arctura Kinetic Chronograph (pictured) has been
selected as this year’s ‘must have’ watch by consumer technology magazine,
Stuff.
The watch appeared in Stuff’s top gadgets for 2004 which also featured a home
cinema, digital camera, Xbox, Nokia 6600 Bluetooth mobile and Apple’s Ipod. The
cost of owning these top gadgets is £8420 but you can own this year’s ‘must
have’ watch at a fraction of that cost, just £450.
Seiko’s Arctura Kinetic Chronograph unites the very latest Kinetic technology
with the modern styling of Arctura. Seiko’s Kinetic watch technology generates
electrical power by the movement of the wearer’s body. This means the watch
never requires a battery and yet maintains accuracy to within 15 seconds per
month.
